Before a product can move from the concept table to the store shelves, it must be tested a significant number of times. Engineers must ensure that the product functions properly, works in all conditions and does exactly what it is designed to do at all times. In 2002, Spencer Volmar accepted an Engineering position with DriverTech in Salt Lake City, Utah. In this position, Spencer Volmar was responsible for ensuring that DriverTech’s products met or exceeded their environmental requirements.

Combined with an extensive educational background in engineering, this real-world experience as a DriverTech engineer is demonstration of Spencer Volmar’s extensive knowledge of testing requirements and procedures for several military and automotive standards including: Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Mechanical Vibration and Shock, Operating and Storage Temperature, Thermal Shock, and Humidity. All of these standards are slightly different, but they’re all equally important. It’s a lot to know, but thankfully Spencer Volmar had an advanced education in engineering, and he’d been working in the industry for many years when he accepted the job. By all accounts, he was an extremely effective test engineer for DriverTech, doing his job faithfully and ensuring that the products were in great condition before they left the factory floor.
