David Valentine LaBorde Review
In 1997, David Valentine LaBorde, MD, MBA, was an undergraduate student studying engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was a rising campus leader and had been honored with a number of awards. In 1997, the USA Today named David Valentine LaBorde as one of its All Academic Team Members.
This prestigious award honors students who not only excel academically but also extend their intellectual abilities beyond the classroom to benefit society. Recipients are written up in the USA Today putting them in the national spotlight. USA Today All Academic Team Members have gone on to do a variety of interesting things and many have been courted by prestigious schools where they have undertaken various post-baccalaureate studies.
After being honored by the USA Today, Dr. LaBorde went on to obtain an MD from Yale and an MBA from Harvard. He entered post graduate medical education in neurosurgery and has published clinical and healthcare informatics research in a wide variety of peer-reviewed journals. Dr. LaBorde recently co-authored a business school case examining Computerized Provider Order Entry which was published by the Harvard Business School Publishing. He is definitely an up and coming leader in medicine and healthcare informatics to watch.
